The Philadelphia Reign showed up to dominate in all three rounds of the first ever WPBA Fitness Challenge, which took place on Facebook Live in early June. A different player represented the Reign for each week of the 3-week challenge, highlighting the unique skill set of each player.
In Round One, new recruit for the 2020 season Deja Reynolds gave the Reign our strong start by showing off her strength in the fitness skills challenge. Competing with the other WPBA league teams, Reynolds took first by getting the most pushups, burpees, and more in 45 second sessions.
The following week, Globetrotter and Reign returnee Brittany Hrynko was seen as a front-runner heading into the ball-handling challenge in Round Two. She was able to keep up with the stiff competition facing her and finish in the lead after ball-spinning, circling the head, waist, and shoulders, and more difficult tasks.
Finally, Alex Louin closed out the contest in what turned out to be a tight race for Round Three's shooting challenge. The first player to have to take to the court for the challenge, Louin took rebound shots, three-pointers, and more, managing to get the most shots completed overall.
In addition to the entertainment of seeing these athletes compete, Facebook viewers had the delight of hearing the inspiring stories of two-time Olympic gold medalist Ruthie Bolton in all three rounds. Reynolds, Hrynko, and Louin each received a Visa gift card for winning their rounds.
